Technical Report on Visit To Orlu Water Scheme (Owerre-Ebeiri) By The Youth Leaders From Orlu L. G. A On 22nd June 2020 written by Emeka Okoro

The water scheme was initially provided by the Israeli company in the year 1958. Available information revealed that the water was commissioned in 1997, Friday September 12, by the then Hon. Minister of Water Resources and Rural Development, Alhaji  Aliyu J. Yelwa after provision of additional four (4) boreholes under National Water Rehabilitation Project. The water scheme stopped operation in the year 2008. Also, during Chief Achike Udenwa’s administration, the state water board paid an inspection visit to the water scheme in order to check what the problem was. Some parts of the Power Generating Machine “Perkins Engine 2000 series ” has been vandalized as the Engine is no longer in good shape. The need to revive this water scheme becomes paramount as the scheme supplies water to various Autonomous Communities in Orlu L.G.A “Umuna, Uzoubi-Umuna, Amaifeke, Eziachi, Owerre-Ebeiri, Umuowa, Orlu, to mention but a few.

The Youths Paid a Visit To The Traditional Ruler

In a similar development, the Youths paid a visit to the Traditional Ruler of Owerre-Ebeiri, HRH Eze George Uzoma, The Eze with some of His Cabinet members welcomed the Youth Leaders and commended them on the giant stride adopted in order to see that the water scheme run again. He advocated the need for proper documentation and written format after highlighting the importance of the water scheme.
