Community & Youth Development Initiatives (CYDI), is a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded on the principle that true development is self-development. CYDI was established on 1st July 2001 in response to the result of the 1999 National HIV/syphilis Sero-prevalence Sentinel Survey, which showed that HIV prevalence among young people (20-24 yrs.) ranged from 4.2%-9.7% and to help government and other stakeholders to address the health and developmental challenges faced by young people (10-24 years) in Imo State and Nigeria

Growing up in Africa, young people face many challenges: hunger and health problems, limited access to education
CYDI works with young People and their guardians to advocate for policies and implement programmes that protects them from abuse, neglect and exploitation in our society
In July 2015, CYDI RE-STRUCTURED its programme in line with the National Policy on the Health and Development of Adolescents and Young People in Nigeria (2007).

Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist (USAID/E-WASH Program)
I worked as a supervisor to CYDI in the USAID funded E-WASH programme, I can say the Organization is good and committed to delivering any project assigned to them
If you need an NGO with integrity, experience, and passion to work with the youth, then you must work with CYDI. Working with CYDI changed my life. Thanks CYDI.
Thank you CYDI for providing a safe space for young people in Imo State
Through this series, we aim to provide a platform for survivors to share their personal journeys, highlighting the physical, emotional, and psychological impacts of this harmful practice. By amplifying these voices, we seek to raise awareness, foster understanding, and advocate for the eradication of FGM, ultimately empowering survivors and promoting positive change in their communities.
